Change

CHANGE...probably the hardest thing for most people to do.

There are so many different changes we experience in life...change of jobs, change of where we live, change of churches, change of hairstyle, change of our children in different stages, and so much more.

I am a person that does not really love change. This basically comes from how I grew up. I always lived in the same house, went to the same school and church, had the same friends, went to the same places, and did the same things. Change did not really happen for me until I graduated from high school. My first big change came my first year of college. I was so excited for college...what I did not anticipate was that I was a homebody much more that I ever thought, and I did not really enjoy change much. It took me a while to find my place. My next change was when I switched colleges. This time I had my sister, so that helped me somewhat. I went on staff at that same college a year later, and I really found my groove there. I began to really enjoy it.

My next big change was getting married and sharing a space with another person...a man at that. That was a huge change. I had brothers growing up, but they were never really in my space. It took some adjusting living with Michael...and I'm sure him with me as well. After three years we welcomed our first baby...now that was a big change. We certainly grew up a lot during that first year with Cam.

There were many many changes after that:
  • moving to a new house
  • finding our place in a church
  • having another baby
  • homeschooling the boys
  • leaving our church
  • having a miscarriage
  • losing Michael's dad
  • moving to another state
  • Michael starting a new job
  • finding a new church
  • homeschooling in another state
  • losing Gma Joseph
  • moving to another state with no job
  • Michael starting a new job
  • moving into another house
  • going to a new church
  • homeschooling in another state
  • Michael traveling a lot
  • trying other churches
  • Michael losing his job
  • Michael getting a new job
  • changing churches
  • Cam starting college
  • Michael losing a second job
  • both boys driving
  • losing my dad
  • Michael getting a new job
WOW! I am exhausted. These were a lot of changes. Changes are actually in most cases really good for us. They don't seem like it in that moment, but when we look back we can see pretty clearly how those changes got us to where we are today...and it was a good thing. All of these changes above brought us to where we are today, and I am pretty content and happy with the outcome. Yes, I still miss many things about where we were in some of the other stages, but I know that we are where we are for a reason. I can truly look back and see all of the changes for good that have happened.

I still don't love change. I am a person that does quite well with the same...it makes me feel happy and secure. Funny thing is I am married to a person that craves change and gets bored in the mundane and the same. I am very happy to sit at home in cozy pj's with some coffee and a good book or movie, and he would love to go out and catch a nice dinner and a movie at the theater.

Here are a couple of quotes that I love about change:

CHANGE we can believe in... Our presidents motto... Problem is eventually all who really believe this change is for the better will soon find out they been duped, lied to, deceived and brought to nothing. Wait... And see for yourself.

If you want something to change, it has to change in YOU first.

It's not going to be easy. It's going to be worth it. #strengthisinthestruggle #sweatwithsoul

I was terrified when I was told I would be laid off from a job that I love. And now, I'm so excited to be starting something new and better suited to me.
