Father's Day 2019

It was a really nice Father's Day this year. We had to work around Jar's work schedule (2-7 p.m.), but it all worked out nicely.

Here is what our day looked like:

...Michael got to sleep in a bit (which was needed after him being on a trip all week)

...We went for a drive in the Malibu (the first time for all four of us together)

...We stopped at the park to take some photos

...I made french toast and orange rolls for brunch

...We gave Michael his gift, Wii Pinball game, and the boys played it

...Michael took a nap while Jar worked

...I made grilled steak, mashed potatoes, and grilled asparagus

...We watched a Netflix movie called Extinction

...We had Costco mousse cake and vanilla ice cream

It was a fun relaxing day! I hope Michael enjoyed it.

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day, Michael! You really are such a great dad. The boys are so lucky to have you as their dad.

Here are some fun memories of the past celebrating you being a father:

...remember becoming a father for the first time

...remember when we road the four-wheeler at a friends house when I was nine months pregnant with Jar, and I just kept saying, "Please don't flip us backwards" when trying to climb the hill.

...remember all the snow forts we made and the sledding we did in the yard (especially the 10 p.m. night sledding we did on the steep hill)

...remember the many trips we took as a family

...remember all of the local fairs and festivals that we enjoyed as a family

...remember all of the hiking we did together

...remember all of the photos I made you guys pose for so I could get a great photo

...remember when we started the boys off camping at a young age

...remember that you always shared your love of cars with the boys

...remember that you really are Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader's father. You truly can say, "I am your father."

Michael's least favorite foods

Michael's least favorite foods are:
  1. tuna noodle casserole
  2. grilled cheese and tomato soup
  3. any soup
  4. pot pie
  5. smoothies
Tuna noodle casserole . 6 oz. egg noodles (wide or extra wide), cooked*1 small can of tuna, drained and flaked with a fork1 can cream of mushroom soup½ cup milk1 cup frozen peas, cooked½ cup (or more) grated sharp cheddar cheese1 cup fresh bread crumbs cooked in 1 T. butter

Grilled Cheese Sandwich and Tomato Soup; we just make our own sandwiches and use Progresso tomato basil soup. :-) -T

This is the ultimate homemade chicken pot pie recipe. The ingredients and the process are simple. Follow them and you will get one of the tastier pies ever.

When we were first married, I made tuna noodle casserole all of the time. My mom made it all of the time when I was growing up. I always loved it. It was a long time before I realized that Michael hated tuna noodle casserole...he does not like cooked tuna at all. Oops!

For some reason Michael does not like grilled cheese and tomato soup. The boys and I love it; although I have not had it in a long time. The best tomato soup is the fresh one called tomato bisque.

Actually, Michael does not like soup at all. I could literally have soup and a salad every single day. He eats it, but kind of makes faces as he does it.

Michael's least favorite food, besides tuna noodle casserole, is pot pie. I would also sometimes make this when we were first married, and he would choke it down. I loved pot pie a lot!

Michael is not a smoothie person at all...he would much rather chew his food. I made a green smoothie one time that not one of us could get down. I think we ordered pizza that night. (the smoothie was made of all veggies...pretty disgusting!)

Michael's 2nd Love

Anyone who knows Michael knows that his first love is cars. His second love is electronics. This past week, he bought Jar an early Christmas present to use with his computer. It was just as much for Michael as it was for Jar. The boys inherited this love for electronics as well--they love to go to Best Buy.
