Myths from our childhood
Myths from our childhood:
- caffeine stunts your growth
- looking at the tip of your nose will make you cross-eyed
- if you cross your eyes for too long, they will get stuck there
- going outside with wet hair will give you a cold
- if you get a burn, put butter on it
- if your feet get too cold, you will get sick
- when food falls on the floor, you cannot eat it
- don't go swimming for an hour after you eat or you will be leg cramps
- if you watch too much television, your eyes will grow square
- if you crack your knuckles, you will have arthritis
- put your jacket on, or you will catch the death of cold
- if you sit too close to the TV, you will go blind
- if you swallow the seed from a fruit, a fruit tree will grow in your belly
- if you keep making that face, it will freeze that way
I remember hearing the caffeine and swimming one when I was young.
