The Rut of Routine

I love a schedule. If I don't go by a schedule, I can tend to get bored and not know what to do. I feel so much more accomplished when I follow my schedule.

But...sometimes I get stuck in the rut of routine (paying bills, cleaning the house, doing the dishes, doing laundry, piano lessons, lesson plans, grading papers, making appointments, checking email, fixing meals, showers, shaving, getting dressed for the day, devotions, the same foods, the same exercise, the same everything). Sometimes it feels like I am on a treadmill, going nowhere.

I have been trying to be more spontaneous in my life. I still go by a schedule, but I try not to be so rigid. On our last vacation, I went more with the flow of things. (which anyone who knows me, this is so unlike me...I usually have every minute planned out to make sure we don't miss anything)

I am finding that it can be fun to have a nice balance between planning and being spontaneous. Obviously, we can't always be spontaneous or nothing would get done. On the flip side, we would miss out on a lot of fun if we were always scheduling everything.

You Don't Always Need A Plan nn You don’t always need a plan. Sometimes you just need to breathe, trust, let go, and see what happens.

True. For good or for bad - so when you feel like you haven't planned enough- something great might happen..

  1. I was so proud of you for letting go on our vacation--I know that must have been hard for you. :)
