9/11

I still remember 9/11 like it was yesterday. We did not have TV, so I got the news through my mom. She called me and told me about the plane hitting the first tower, and then part-way through the conversation she started moaning and yelling and saying, "Oh no. No...no...no. What is happening?." It freaked me out. She then told me that the second tower had been hit. It was then that I realized that this was not an accident--this was some planned terrorist attack. I was so sick to my stomach. I could only think about my two young boys. They were 2 and 4 years old. I worried about their future. I worried about what this meant for our country. I worried about our world. I was so saddened and heartsick for all of the families that had someone that died on that horrible day.

I did not see any of the footage on TV until 2 days later, when my best friend had a birthday party for me. When I watched it, I could hardly believe that it was reality. It seemed like a movie. It was horrifying. I still really do not even like to re-watch footage of that day.

I still cannot believe what happened that day. Photos of that day bring out strong emotions in me. One of my favorite photos is of the firefighters raising the flag.  I would have loved to have posted that here, but it is copyrighted. I did not want to post a picture of the towers being hit--too depressing for me. I decided to post a picture of the American flag. I love this flag. This is my home...my country. I love what the flag represents. We must never forget what others before us have done for us to pave our way and give us freedom. I love America!!

  1. Great post! I too remember that day with vivid memories and the emotions we experienced as the story unfolded. Let us never forget those that lost their lives on that day, nor those that have lost their lives to keep this country free. And may we never forget those fighting today to keep us free tomorrow.
