My Thoughts on Selling the Camper

On Sunday, May 28, we officially sold the camper. Here were my thoughts that I wrote down that morning before the couple came to pick up the camper.

"My thoughts today about selling the camper are very mixed. It is kind of like when your last child becomes six or seven years old, and you sell or get rid of all their baby clothes and baby toys. It really makes you feel sad inside...it rips out your insides. (For us, we just made so many wonderful memories during our nine years of camping here in Oregon). However, at the same time you are excited about what this new chapter will be...even though still truthfully if you could stop time, you would. Since I don't have the super power of stopping time, I am looking forward to what lies ahead. I look forward to more day trips to the beach, house vacation rentals, short motel weekend trips (spur of the moment), and day hiking trips. We always wrapped these things up in our camping trips before. As long as we are all together, that is all that counts. I love our family, and I love being together."

Believe me, as I read this to Michael that morning before they came to get the camper, I cried a little bit...and even some throughout the day. It is really tough to move through these phases and changes in life, especially as it relates to your kids. I do though look forward to many more adventures together.

  1. I loved out camping time--great memories, adventures, laughs, and family time. And, that was a beautiful and big camper.
