Weird Weather

The weather has been really strange around here. We have had a lot of warm sunny weather...usually it is very wet and overcast this time of year. It is only February, and my spring flowers are blooming.

Glimpse of my weekend

Of course, I already filled you in on what we did on Saturday (Valentine's Day).

We got to sleep in on Sunday morning because we did not have Sunday School. That was nice.

I made Jar some fancy hot chocolate before church.

We were supposed to go out to lunch after church with a couple from church. They both ended up being sick, so we went to the Mexican restaurant without them. It was a lot of food (we had enough for dinner too), and it was yummy!

Michael worked on the stereo system in his car all afternoon. I took a nap and watched some Hallmark shows. The boys spent some time with their cousins.

Sunday evening Michael and I watched our Alaska shows and then watched the movie "Trouble with the Curve". It was a great movie. We really enjoyed it.

Trouble with the Curve - Not good reviews from Rotten Tomatoes but I enjoyed it. Just a warm, fuzzy film with another great performance by Clint Eastwood.and good performances by Amy Adams and Justin Timberlake.

On Monday, we all slept in until 9:00. That felt so nice. I made the boys strawberry cream cakes for breakfast.

I watched Undercover Boss, while Michael gave Zena a bath. The boys played some games with their cousins.

Jar then talked his dad into going to Guitar Center so he could buy himself a new electric guitar. He was pretty excited.

Cam tuned it up for Jar.

It was a fun weekend.

What's Happening Lately

1.  I made a salmon dinner one night last week. It was so delicious. Both boys said it was the best salmon they had ever had (and we have had a lot of salmon).

2. Lily likes to help the boys work out with weights.

3. We went out to lunch with Mom/Grandma. The food was really good. Jar and I split a sandwich and soup. Cam had a Reuben sandwich. Mom had a BLT. We all split a piece of chocolate cake.

4. I went through and organized our bedroom. I was tired of the clutter. I moved some furniture out and got rid of a bunch of books.

5. Jar decided to redo the cover of his Sunday School journal. Come to find out, they were recognizing those with a cool cover...he is so competitive.

6. Zena enjoyed being outside with Michael all weekend long. The weather was so nice. On a side note, we finally took our Christmas tree down...after Valentine's Day. That is crazy.

7. I made some Tazo Passion Iced Tea Lemonade. It was pretty good. The turquoise lemon juice squeezer reminds me of growing up...my mom had one and made lemonade with it.

8. The boys have been feeding the dogs next door...all week long. They are excited to make some money.

9. Cam and Michael had some good news as it relates to job searching. We continue to pray.

10. Cam opened up his own checking account. He felt so grown-up.

Valentine's Day 2015

I started off the Valentine's Day morning with making heart shaped orange cinnamon rolls for the three boys. I also made them hot chocolate.

Then the boys watched some YouTube videos while I cleaned up the kitchen.

We then filled out two pages of our Questionnaires. We always laugh so much...especially at the boys answers. They can be so funny!

Then we watched some of the "Good Mythical Morning" videos. They are so funny!

I made clam chowder for lunch with puff pastry on top. It was so good, but it was so filling.

We played a lot of games together. It was so much fun. With as busy as Michael has been at work lately (and looking for jobs), we have not had a chance to play games together in a while. We did a lot of laughing.

Then the boys went to mow the grass. It was a beautiful day outside.

Lily sat by the front door watching Jar mow the grass out front. Yes, we have our Christmas tree up still. I am just not ready to take it down yet.

I had a coconut candle burning all day long. These candles are cool...every candle has a ring (as in jewelry) inside the candle. Also, the wax is not hot...and it can be used as a moisturizer. It is coconut oil, so it feels really good on the skin.

While I made dinner, the boys played some Wii golf. After dinner we had a bowling tournament. Jar won, but I was close behind him.

We had orange chicken over couscous for dinner and an arugula/orange fennel salad. It was good, but the dinner from the night before was our favorite (steak with a beef stroganoff sauce, potatoes, and creamed spinach).

We used our nice dishes and had non alcoholic sparking apple grape juice. I love that stuff.

We had the Blueberry Delight for dessert. The boys enjoyed it.

After dinner, we watched the movie "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day". We loved it. It was so funny! We could not even begin to imagine that a day could go like this...ever.

We especially loved this movie because years ago Aunt Sherry bought the boys this book.

After that, Michael and I watched a romantic movie together. I read the book, so I pretty much knew the story-line. We enjoyed it.

The Best of Me - New Movie based on Nicholas Sparks book...I hope the movie is as good as the book.

It was a great Valentine's Day. I hope that the three boys enjoyed it too. We all wrote each other a Valentine as well.
