Canada: Day 5 & 6

D A Y   F I V E:

We went hiking at the Lynn Valley park. We took the dogs with us. I had a slight mishap on one of the first step-down areas. I twisted my left knee. I was fine going up the stairs or on the flat areas, but going down was so painful. I told the boys to go on without me, and I would just sit back at the welcome building. But, Michael did not want to leave me by myself, and I did not want them to miss out, so we trudged on. Unfortunately, the whole trail was stairs down to the bottom. I hobbled along...it took us twice as long. Once I got to the bottom, it was uphill, and then I was fine. It was a nice hike, but it did not compare to many of the other places that we have been. We have seen such big sights...this one just had a large creek at the bottom. But as far as hiking goes, it was a nice trail.

When we finished the hike, we drove around a little bit because it was a really pretty area of town. We stopped by a burger place called Mooyah, and took our food back to the camper to eat and watch some of the World Cup soccer and also some movies.

D A Y   S I X:

We got up and headed to Whistler at 10:30. It was a beautiful drive through the mountains and along the ocean. We drove up to the Olympic Village, but it was closed.

We went to Whistler Village and ate at Boston Pizza. It was really good. We then drove up Whistler Mountain as far as we could. It really was not that impressive (after you have been on Mt. Hood and Mt. Ranier and the Wallowa Mountains).

We could have enjoyed Whistler more if we had stayed there. (we did not realize that when making vacation plans) We could have gone biking on tons of trails, four-wheeling, more hiking, zip-lining, canoeing, kayaking, or on the gondola ride. One of the problems is that we have dogs, and they have to go with us everywhere. We can't leave them at the campground, and we can't leave them in the car when it is hot. That does limit us as to what we can do. But, we really enjoyed the drive there and back...it was beautiful.

We loved the small town of Squamish Valley. It was gorgeous...with huge mountains surrounding all of it.

We stopped at Horseshoe Bay on our way back and watched the Ferry come in from Victoria Island.
