Florida House

Our house in Florida was the perfect size. It was a very open concept, with high ceilings. Every room, except for the boys room, felt really big. We had a very large livingroom, diningroom, and study. The master bedroom was also very large, with a large bathroom and walk-in-closet. It had a large screened in porch and a large back yard. It was a great house for us.

There were just a few things that we did not like. 1) Everything was white in the house: white floors, white cabinets, white countertops, white walls, white appliances. Because it was a rental, we could not paint any colors. If there had been a nice tan color on the walls, that would have been great. 2) There was a skylight in the livingroom...when there was an afternoon rain (which happens a lot in Florida), you could not hear the TV at all, or even hear each other talk. 3) There were 2 really large windows in the front top of the house, which made it really hot in the diningroom and study at all times. It let in a lot of great light, but it made it unbearable in those rooms during the day. 4) The white floors had caulk all over the surface of them, so no matter what, they always looked dirty.

It was a great house for us during our time in Florida.

  1. I loved and hated that house for the same reasons you mentioned. One thing was that there was too much white everywhere, but I sure did like how much space it provided us.
