Social Media

I absolutely hate social media. I think Twitter is ridiculous. I think that Facebook is also sometimes ridiculous. I don't care that you just went out to get a coffee and then drop off your dry cleaning. Yes, Facebook has its benefits--I do agree with this. Facebook can be used for good. I just feel it really is a big time-waster. (I LIKE that you LIKE me:) )

I believe Instagram can be fun for those in the creative arts, but I don't need to follow people I don't know posting photos of things I really don't care about. I also think that these things are big time-wasters.

Don't even get me started on texting. I really believe that this should be used in emergency situations. It should not be used to tell me your jibber jabber of what is going on in your day. PICK UP THE PHONE.

Yes, I agree that there are some benefits to being able to get in touch with someone right away. I like the fact that when my boys do get cell phones, that I will be able to reach them when they are out. I don't know how my mom and dad made it back then without cell phones...somehow they did though.

I really think that we misuse technology today. I want my boys to understand that contact with people is important. I believe that their generation could go without seeing one another and just communicate through social media. I don't think that this is good at all. We all need emotional connection with one another.

I know that social media is here to stay, but I will do my best not to get sucked into all of it.
