- Be best friends
- Say "I Love You" a couple of times a day
- Be okay with each other's differences
- Be Thoughtful
- Put the other person's needs above your own
- Work hard at your marriage...marriage is hard work
- Talk a lot...communicate
- Really listen
- Say what is on your mind
- Don't take things personally
- Only spend what you have in cash...no credit cards
- Don't have debt
- Address a problem immediately
- Move on from things...don't dwell
- Take responsibility for your actions
- Say "I'm Sorry"
- Admit when you are wrong
- Be fair
- Be kind
- Show your love in actions (notes, gifts, special things)
- Don't blame
- Don't criticize
- Don't speak bad about your spouse
- Build them up
- Show appreciation
- Thank them often
- Spend time together...absence does not make the heart grow fonder, it makes the heart go wander
- Check in with the relationship daily
- Have fun
- Compliment them
- Respect each other
- Reaffirm each other
- Make sure you "heard' correctly...repeat what you thought you heard
- Support each other
- Accept each other
- Laugh...laugh...laugh--this is the most important
