We left at 8:40 on Saturday morning. It was a beautiful day--clear day with a very blue sky. The sun was shining brightly. We drove the back way there. . . on skinny roads through the country. It was a beautiful drive, but skinny roads with a big truck can by scary.
We arrived at Mt. Hood at about 11:00. We had a little trouble finding a parking spot. We had to drive around the three parking lots twice.
We took lots of photos and then visited the gift shop. We bought a Christmas ornament, which is what we try to do when we visit somewhere spectacular.
We then ate lunch at the Timberline Lodge. We decided on the Cascade Dining Room. It was a beautiful lodge-like fine dining restaurant. It was serving buffet style lunch. Now, normally, we do not do buffets at all. We don't like other people (besides the chef) touching the food that we eat (it reminds us of Mrs. Snyder-ha ha). But, this was a really fancy buffet. It had really fresh food. It was some of the best food we have had. Our favorites were:
Jar--grilled bread and chocolate mousse
Cam--grilled bread and all dessert
Amy--fire roasted vegetables and salad
Michael--cheesy potatoes and chocolate coconut cream cheese parfait.
After lunch, we left Mt. Hood to head to our motel. We stumbled upon the cute ski resort downtown. It was so cute. We then checked into our motel and just relaxed the rest of the evening.
Sunday morning, we ate breakfast and watched cartoons and basketball, and then we headed home. It was a great trip.
Here are some photos from the trip:
Here are some of Cam's photos: (he does great)
Great photos, memories, and a perfect weekend away.
