Growing Up in the Country

I grew up in the country. We lived on 5 acres. I loved it. I am a country girl at heart.

What growing up in the country meant to me:

  • Waded in the creek
  • Caught Tadpoles
  • Hiked on our property
  • Took us 4 hours to mow the grass every week
  • Amish were a normal part of our life
  • We used our imagination every day
  • Running barefoot...even across the big stones in the driveway
  • Riding bikes everywhere
  • Small town grocery stores
  • Ate all meals at home
  • We got a lot of exercise...without a true exercise program
  • Catching lightning bugs every night in the summer
  • Climbing trees
  • Taking walks in the woods all of the time
  • Fishing at the neighbors pond
  • Walks to the grocery store to get treats...2.5 miles away
  • Our own concrete basketball court
  • skating pond in backyard...really huge puddle of water that froze
  • Our own private swimming pool
  • The best view ever
  • We grew our own food
  • We had puppies
