Jar's Legos

Here are a few more of Jar's LEGO creations. He did these a while ago. I just love what he does.

Project Day

Today is project day. I am dusting and vacuuming the house. I am going through the whole house and doing a very quick organize. I cannot stand clutter, and it was starting to get to me.

I still have a lot do do, but I am really enjoying it because I am listening to Christmas music. I absolutely love Christmas music, and today felt like a Christmas type of day. My three very favorite CD's are One Silent Night by FFH, Jaci Velasquez Christmas, and Amy Grant Christmas.

The boys have been doing some organizing and cleaning up as well. Cam is outside right now taking some photos for his blog. Jar is building LEGO's. Michael has been working outside winterizing the camper, changing the oil on the truck, and other odds and ends type of stuff around the house.

It feels good when we get a lot accomplished on the weekend, but it will be nice later this evening to relax and watch a movie or some TV.

Last night was fun because we watched Boys Meets World, Master Chef Jr., Shark Tank, and Undercover Boss. We love our Friday night routine.

...Based on how we grow up

I think that it is so funny how we like things based on how we grew up. For instance, some things I like are based on things that my mom liked growing up and shared with us.

Here is a list of things that I like based on things that my mom shared with me:
  • Peanut Butter Tandy Tastykake
  • Sausage McMuffin with no egg from McDonald's
  • Middlesworth BBQ potato chips
  • Arby's Jamocha shakes
  • Mandarin Orange Salad
  • Strawberry Shortcake
  • Our meatballs
I very seldom...rarely ever even have these things any more, but I sure loved them growing up. Guess what? My two boys like these things as well...even though they rarely have them. Funny!!

Cookies

Both of the boys love iced sugar cookies. I have made them before, and they liked them. But, they really like the ones in the store...they are softer. I bought some for them when we went camping.

Tuna Noodle Casserole

When we were first married, I made tuna noodle casserole all of the time. Growing up, it was one of my favorite dishes that my mom made. I loved it so much, that often I would request it for my birthday meal.

Well, because I loved it so much, I made it for Michael all of the time...thinking he must love it too. I don't know how many years we were married (around 2 or 3) before I found out that he did not like tuna noodle casserole one bit. He hated hot tuna. He loved tuna fish sandwiches...which we had all of the time...but those were with cold tuna.

That poor guy!! I cannot imagine eating something at least once a week for 2-3 years and absolutely hating it. I don't know why he did not tell me sooner. I would have just made small portions for myself...instead I made huge pans of it.

To this day, we joke about this a lot. We tell the boys that they better make sure that they tell their wife...in a loving way, of course...if they don't like hate a particular dish. We sure do laugh a lot to this day about this.

Random Things

Today was a great day. It started out with lots of fog, but then it turned out to be a beautiful sunny day.

Cam had piano lessons today. While he was at his lessons, Jar and I went to World Market...one of my favorite stores ever. I got a few things. The pumpkin bread was awesome.

I needed some new measuring spoons
I bought some ramekins to make individual desserts in
I love the grey furniture

This is the boys favorite section of World Market

After piano lessons, we stopped by my mom and dad's house. My dad is struggling with Stage 4 cancer right now. He does not look very good at all. It is really hard to see him like this. He has always been so strong and so active. The boys and I did take a good walk with him though...and strangely he does this really well.

The past two days I posted photos of my mom and dad when they were younger...it was hard to do. It was hard to see him so strong and healthy.

We are praying for Dad...it does not look good...but we know the God that performs miracles. He can heal his body...but if He chooses not to do so, we are OK with that. I just don't want to see him suffer at all. I love you Dad! Thank you for raising us and taking care of us. I appreciate all of your hard work.

Things that drive me batty

This is a list of some things that drive me batty...get under my skin a little bit:

  • When people write in text language all of the time, especially in e-mails, and they spell things incorrectly
  • When people text all of the time
  • When people are on their cell phones all of the time
  • When people wear their phone ear pieces into restaurants and stores...come on people.
  • When I can't find a song that I heard on the radio, or in a movie, or at the mall, or in a TV show
  • When people don't use their turn signal
  • When people do other things when they are driving...like text, or talk on the phone, or put their makeup on, or even turn around to take care of their children in the backseat...GRRRRRR. Pull off the road people
  • Shopping at Walmart
  • Standing in line forever at Safeway or Walmart
  • Inappropriate dress on women/girls...come on people...those things are made to be PRIVATE!
  • When people make smacking, sucking, loud chewing noises with their mouth. (mouth noises of any kind) It drives me bananas.
  • When people pass on two lane highways...with little room to spare...to get behind the vehicles in front of you...thus getting nowhere.
  • When people let their dogs poop in your yard
  • When I can't think of an actor or actresses name in a movie...or I can't think of what other show or movie they have been in before. I will go through the alphabet until I can think of their name. I then check the internet to see what show or movie I have seen them in before.
