Life Lately

It has been a quiet couple of weeks. Because of Jar's appendectomy, we have kind of laid low for a few weeks. It has actually been really nice.

Here is what has been happening around here lately:

...a beautiful sky one morning

...I have been doing a little bit of organizing (again - I'm addicted)

...Jar has got quite a few projects in the works

...Jar in his new outfit

...we got Zena a new raincoat for walking

...Michael and I went on a date - a few photos along the way

...Michael raked leaves

...one night the sky looked like blue and pink cotton candy

...sitting on a chair close to the kitchen while I cook (she is in the process all week of getting a haircut)

...I made Keto peanut clusters

Other happenings around here lately:
  • Michael and I watched a lot of Criminal Minds (our goal is to get caught up in January and February)
  • I did a lot of organizing
  • I watched Konmarie Netflix show (it just made me want to get rid of more)
The Japanese decluttering wizard and author of The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing, Marie Kondo, is taking her magical KonMari method from the pages of her book into the television screens at your home.

The best decluttering tips learned in Tidying Up with Marie Kondo, which airs on Netflix. This show is full of practical ideas, motivation, and a proven technique to help you declutter and organize your home. Learn more about the Konmari method, this popular TV program and how it can help you start decluttering.

  • Michael and I watched The Blacklist
  • Michael and I watched college football championship game (Alabama vs. Clemson)
  • Boys started their college classes
  • Jar worked on another drawing (Harry Potter characters)
  • Cam played the piccolo a lot...a little annoying!

Christmas

Christmas was a lot of fun and very relaxing. We got to stay in all day long...it sure was nice to be able to just hang out and not go anywhere.

We started our Christmas day with sleeping in til 9:30 or 10:00 and then we just slowly came down to start our day. We read the Christmas story from Luke 2 and sang Christmas songs. We enjoyed opening our presents slowly...enjoying each item received. Then, we had oatmeal and vanilla bean ice cream - a Smith tradition.

We then watched Die Hard 3 and then just rested and the boys enjoyed what they got for Christmas. I made homemade grilled chicken fettuccine Alfredo for dinner. My mom came over at 6 p.m. We watched The Christmas Chronicles on Netflix and then enjoyed a relaxing evening.

what Michael and I got for each other

...Jar's gifts

...Cam's gifts (speaker mounts missing)

We still really miss the snow. It just doesn't feel like Christmas without the snow. I sometimes miss our Pennsylvania Christmases. I do not miss the snow and cold for 6-7 months straight though.
