Keeping up with the details

One of the things I appreciate about my husband is his attention to detail. He is the most detail-oriented person that I have ever known. We tease him about this...and at times it can be a little annoying (like when we have family time planned, and he is still outside washing the cars or camper...after 8 hours). But...his attention to detail has helped us to keep things a lot longer...and to look like brand new.

He washes a car like no one I have ever seen. He wipes down every part of the car, even those that you cannot see. He does the same with the camper. Many times when he washes a vehicle, it will take him 4 or more hours to wash it. It takes him 4-6 hours to wash the camper. Me--I'd be done in 10 minutes. I do not have the gift of being detail-oriented.

He doesn't only do this with the vehicles; he also carries this on into working on the house, any work he does at his job, and anything else he does. He gives every job he does his most careful attention to detail. I do believe that is one of the reasons he has been so successful. It may take him longer to do it than someone else, but you know it is going to be done right...and even better than right. And...it will look good too.

This is one of the things that I appreciate most about Michael. He certainly picked up this wonderful habit from his dad. His dad would also spend hours cleaning and working on cars, cleaning the house, vacuuming, doing the dishes, and so much more.

To create something exceptional, your mindset must be relentlessly focused on the smallest detail. ~Giorgio Armani.:

Life Lately

We purchased a desk for Cam to do his college work. It has really worked out well for him.

I cleaned out the boys closet and put their clothes on the new hangers I bought.

I watched the arrival and departure of President Obama in Eugene, OR (because of shooting at college in Roseburg, OR). This was just so sad.

These two are quite the pair. They are buddies.

Lily has claimed a new spot in the living room. Ever since I brought this chair down to the living room, Lily has been resting here.

Zena's Video

Zena loves chasing and retrieving the ball. She really enjoyed it on the sand by the ocean. She had a face full of sand when she was done.

New Furniture

I ordered Michael a new over-sized recliner for our room. That way he can take naps on Sunday afternoon when he watches TV. I also picked up some nightstands and lamps. We had lamps that were broken and actually dangerous, and the night stands were actually cheap filing cabinets that were not that pretty. I decided to get some real night stands. They actually look like they are part of our bedding set.

Camping Weekend at the Coast

We had a great time 2 nights on the coast. We got a camping spot right on the ocean. It was awesome.

the leaves were beautiful...this was our drive to the coast

We went to one of our favorite restaurants on the coast - Tidal Rave. It was so yummy!...and the view is spectacular. We went early enough (3:30 p.m.) that we got lunch prices, which were half of dinner prices.

toasted bread with smoked salmon, shrimp, garlic, and Havarti cheese

Cam's salad

Michael and Jar got the same seafood alfredo dish

I had a hankering for a grilled hamburger. It was so good. Yes, I should have had seafood, but it was the hamburger I wanted

what a goofball...waiting to play "ball" with Dad

The boys had some fun taking selfies. We got to laughing about how goofy they were being.

I took this photo of the boys just as I went into the camper...they followed close behind.

It was a really nice, relaxing, but short weekend. I wish we could have stayed longer, but we really had a great time together. The dinner on Saturday afternoon was fantastic...it was a 2-hour dinner. We really enjoyed hanging out and talking. We laughed as we took photos of our food. The food was delicious...as it has been every time we have gone there for dinner. The view was spectacular.

We enjoyed watching On the Line on Saturday evening...while eating popcorn. The boys enjoyed the movie.

We got up on Sunday morning to a beautiful day. We had breakfast and enjoyed relaxing. We read books, did some drawing, watched YouTube videos, watched Family Feud marathon, and took lots of ocean photos. We had fun taking selfies.

Sunday evening, we had snacks for dinner and watched A Walk to Remember...one of our favorite movies. The boys had not seen it before. They really loved it.

I just had the best idea everrrr. This would be a crazy cute save the date. A walk to remember; the walk down the aisle! My favorite movie:

We watched HGTV until it was time to go to bed.

On Monday, it was time to pack up and head home. It was pouring rain outside. Jar and Michael had to pack everything up in the rain. They were soaked through their clothes. We got on the road at 10:30 a.m.

It was a great trip. It is always nice to get away...but also really nice to come back home.
